About Me

First Time Mama Drama: Just another typical Mum on maternity leave who decides to start a blog because, let's be honest, it beats doing the housework. However, I do try to avoid boasting about how wonderful my child is (which, by the way, she is... she's almost as delightfully attractive as myself, and I suspect judging by her sleep-grunting she is nearly fluent in Swahili). I also avoid talking all seriously about the best parenting techniques (what would I know, I've been a Mum for a whopping total of 4 weeks. My 'technique' is to try not do things that make her cry, and try to do things that don't make her cry. I call it 'trial and error with A LOT of errors'). My blog is merely a light-hearted and somewhat amusing (to me) commentary of all the ups and downs on becoming a ‘Whoops Mum' (note to readers: believe your grade 10 health teacher. Withdrawal is NOT a foolproof form of contraception! Although ugly boyfriends are, maybe try that). All in all I love being a new Mum, and despite some of the 'downs' about becoming a Mum – (think childbirth, poo explosions -hers, not mine - and coping alone while the other half works away) - the upside is absolutely worth it (hint: it's the baby!). xo Cathy
